We continue to introduce our founders, their vision for European Compliance Professionals Association (ECPA) and advice for compliance professionals. Please meet our Co-founder and Board Member Dina Lurje, an experienced lawyer, legal executive and an expert in competition law, policy and regulation, lately mostly working with digital/tech markets and relevant regulatory issues.
Why ECPA for you personally?
There are at least two reasons for me personally to contribute to this association:
1) In industries that aren’t as heavily regulated as sectors like pharma or fintech, compliance can often feel like an ambiguous and evolving concept. I have noticed a number of tech companies struggling to understand the scope of what is required to operate responsibly as they scale. So I see a growing need for practical and tailored guidance. ECPA is my small contribution to creating a community where compliance professionals can share knowledge and tools to help navigate these areas, ensuring that even fast-moving, less-regulated sectors prioritize ethical and sustainable business practices.
2) My passion for and experience in competition law drive me to contribute to ensuring that competition compliance is not left-out and regardless of the nuanced nature of the rules, is integrated into broader compliance frameworks.
What’s your advice for people starting a career in compliance?
Start with curiosity, solid understanding of law and the industry you work in. Compliance is about more than just following the rules—it's about understanding the business environment, risks, building relationships with different departments and being approachable and practical. Also be ready to learn continuously, as regulations and businesses evolve.
